Following the Swim & Survive program, our approach is two prong-water safety & stroke development. Our student's success is driven by our Austswim qualified instructors that focus on providing an environment that enables students to fulfill their swimming potential. Feedback is a critical element of learning and more recently, we have integrated structured feedback to hasten learning and skill acquisition.

From October 2011 we will be following the revised swim and survive program and the development of student through Swim & Survive is as follows:

3/4 YEAR OLD BEGINER
Further develop assisted floating and body
movements in water. With assistance, float and
recover to standing position

With assistance, float and recover to

3/4 YEAR OLD CONFIDENT SWIMMERS
Float to standing position, independent
movement through water for 3 minutes

Independent submersion, floating and movement
with feet clear of the bottom for 3 minutes
Active (development) Level 2
ASSESSMENT
Swim for 30 seconds with floatation aid.
Demonstrate freestyle and backstroke arms
assisted for 10 meters
Active Level 2
ASSESSMENT
Basic freestyle, backstroke and sculling.
Swim 10 meters using efficient technique.
Undertake survival activities
Active (development) Level 3
ASSESSMENT
Swim 30 meters resembling a stroke.
Swim 15 meters survival backstroke.
Active Level 3
ASSESSMENT
Swim 30 meters of 2 or more strokes, using
efficient stroke technique. Introduction to
breaststroke kick.
Active Level 4 to Active Level 7
ASSESSMENT
Working on being to swim efficiently in all strokes
